Information:

This is a Shareware release of EPSXCVG, which converts all EPS, both IBM
and MAC EPS formats, as long as they are in Adobe Illustrator 88 format.
There is possible to convert from EPS and AI to CVG and CVG to EPS.

The program work on all Atari STs in either high or medium resolution,
and a ramdisk is highly recommended for speed and comfort.

The EPSXCVG folder should contain the following files:

        EPSXCVG.PRG
        EPSXCVG.RSC
        EPSXCVGC.RSC
        EPSXCVG.TXT
        EPSXCVG.ICN
        EPSXCVGM.ICN
And a folder with example files for use with EPSXCVG, both
        EPS/AI- and CVG-files.

There might be made improvements on this program, if enough registrations
are recieved. Please send any suggestions to Eines Computing with the
features you would like to see in future releases of EPSXCVG.

How to use EPSXCVG:

To start EPSXCVG double-click on EPSXCVG.PRG, and it will start as a
normal GEM-application in either high or medium resolution. A different
method to start EPSXCVG, is to drop a picture file on the EPSXCVG icon,
but this will only work on machines with TOS 2.00 and upwards.
When you start EPSXCVG by dropping a picture file onto it, the conversion
of this file starts imediately and the converted file will be saved to the
same directory as the source file.

First of all you get an information box, which tells you that its a
shareware release and where to register your copy. Click on one of
the mouse buttons to enter the main program screen.

Here you will find all the settings before the conversion takes place.

First of all you will have to select the conversion method for your
pictures. This is done by selecting one of the buttons in the middle of
the program screen. The conversion methodes found in EPSXCVG are:

        EPS --> CVG
        AI  --> CVG
        CVG --> EPS

Then select the EPS/AI-path, this is where you store your EPS/AI
pictures. As mentioned above, a ram disk for this task is highly
recommended. You must also select the path where your converted
pictures will be saved to.

To begin the conversion, select either the CONVERT ONE button for
single file conversion, or CONVERT ALL button to convert all the
pictures in your source folder. Click on the CONVERT! button, and
off you go...

Some essential notes to EPSXCVG:

* only Adobe Illustrator 88 files, both EPS and AI are converted
  sucsessfully

* text strings can't be converted, because you need access to the
PS-type one fonts, which is used in the EPS/AI(and I have no
information on the type one format)

* if the converted CVG-file is 26 bytes long, there is just the header
which have been saved and the EPS/AI-file most surely only contained
  text strings

* Calamus will bomb out if the saved CVG-file have too many paths in one
object. The maximum of paths in a object is 256.

? EPSXCVG is orginally designed to run on a monochrome system, but a
medium resource file is included. This is made on a early sunday
morning, after a surf party, just to get a high score on possible
reviews and evaluations of the program.

If you have any problems with some picture-files, then send them to
Eines Computing on a 720 Kb floppy diskette.

Detailed information on the CVG-file format is most welcome...
