This is a simple little program that allows any shell to run programs
contained on a cartridge. It performs the same functions as the GEM
desktop's "c" drive letter: you can get a directory of the files on
the cartridge and you can try to run them. You cannot copy the files,
and you obviously can't modify them because they are on a cartridge.

This program can be placed in the AUTO folder of your boot disk or it
can be run directly from the GEM desktop.

It works by creating a fake disk drive that will be recognized by any
other program. You can set which disk drive letter is used by changing
the last letter before the ".PRG" in the filename. If you have another
utility that uses drive letter "P" you may have to change this. If, for
example, you wanted to have the cartridge as drive N: you would simply
change the name of the program to "CARTDRVN.PRG" using the Show Information
dropdown menu entry on the desktop.

If no drive letter appears in the name, or you change the name to something
other than "CARTDRVx.PRG", then the drive will default to P:. Due to a
limitation of the operating system, you should not try to use any letter
greater than "P". You should probably also not use letters such as "A" or
"B" since these are already in use.

It is possible that some AUTO folder utilities (like FATSPEED) may cause
CARTDRV not to work. If you are getting blank directories on the drive
that is installed as a cartridge, then check your AUTO folder with the
"No Sort" option of either the Universal Item Selector or NeoDesk to see
that CARTDRVx.PRG is last in the AUTO folder.
