     Zachary McKracken lives at 5858 13th Ave,  his mission is to 
save  the  world  from a worldwide stupidity  epidemic  which  is 
linked to space aliens who have infitrated the phone company.  By 
emitting a 60 cycle hum on all the telephones of this planet, the 
aliens  can reach out and touch everybody everywhere and  leaving 
them with the I.Q.  of a turnip!  It is said that the only way to 
stop the aliens is to discover and activate The Skolarian Device, 
"It's the only thing that could stop us!" says the alien.  Do you 
feel that you are up to the challange?  You will need friends  to 
help you on your mission and maybe you will find love along  your 
path.

     This solution is an almost step by step walk-through of  Zak 
McKracken.  Hope  that  you enjoy the game  and  this  text.  Any 
comments or questions are welcomed at my user I.D. above.

     First of all pick up everything that you can put your  hands 
on,  in  your room at the very start of the game,  get the  phone 
bill  in the dresser and get the CashCard using the  Phone  Bill, 
get the Sushi in fishbowl,  and open the desk drawer and pick  up 
the Kazoo.  Next turn on the answering machine. Also pull off the 
wallpaper  near  the door it will be useful for  drawing  a  map. 
(Notice  the  green light,  also notice that the CashCard  has  a 
balance of $12250.)

     In the living room pick up the seat cushion near the TV then 
pick  up the other seat cushion,  notice that there is  a  Remote 
Control hidden under.  Walk up to the power outlet and use  power 
outlet  with power cord.  Now watch the news by using the  remote 
control.

     In  the kitchen pick up the butter knife on the counter  and 
open  the cabinet in order to have access to the box of  crayons. 
Pick up the crayons and then open the refrigerator,  pick up  the 
egg and close the refrigerator.  Before leaving the room get  the 
small key near the door.

     On  14th Ave you will see a place named Lou's Loans,  go  in 
and buy: the tool kit, wet suit, golf club, guitar, hat, and nose 
glasses.  After leaving the place go a little more down the  road 
and  remove  the bobby pin sign using the wire cutters  found  by 
opening your new tool kit.







     Now go back near your house to the address 5850 13th Ave  to 
a  place called Le Bakery,  ring the doorbell  three  times.  The 
baker will get very angry and throw you a stale bread. After this 
go  back to your apartment and check the answering  machine  then 
head for the cabinet useing the monkey wrench in the tool box  to 
remove the pipe.  Now put the stale bread in the sink and turn on 
the  switch.  (Read  Blend-O-Rama  ad  page  6  of  The  National 
Inquisitor.)

     Now head towards The Phone Company at the address 5866  13th 
Ave  before entering the door put on your hat and  nose  glasses. 
The man in there will think that your an employee,  go in back of 
the counter and use the computer,  then go see what's behind that 
door. Surprise! Pick up an application before you leave.

     Next,  go  to  your house and unlock the mailbox  using  the 
small key,  fill out the application and put it in the mail  box. 
Remember to come back later and pick up your mail.  You will find 
a card, it will be The Kings Fan Club Card.

     For  you to get to the airport you need to take  bus  number 
SFO 42, wake up the driver by using your Kazoo. Pay for your fare 
using  your  cashcard and the bus driver will drive  you  to  the 
airport.

     At  the  airport head for the gate,  (You already  have  the 
ticket  that your boss gave you remember?) but before  you  leave 
buy the book by giving the CashCard to the devotee.  On the plane 
you have to get a little nasty.  Once seated head for the  toilet 
in the rear of the airplane.  Take the toilet paper and put it in 
the sink,  now turn on the sink and let it overflow.  As soon  as 
there is water on the floor.  Use the button on the wall and this 
will  call  up the stewardess and she will have to clean  up  the 
mess. During which time you will go back to your seat, once there 
pick  up the cushion on the seat in front of you.  You  will  now 
notice that a lighter has fallen on the floor pick it up.

     Arrived  at  the destination,  give the peanuts to  the  two 
headed squirrel, now go to the tree and pull on the branch. Using 
the  branch  on  the loose dirt you will dig a  hole  which  will 
uncover an entrance to a cave.  It is dark inside the cave and in 
order  to  find  something in the dark click  on  the  "what  is" 
command on the panel.  Search for a bird nest,  get the bird nest 
by  reaching  for it with the tree branch.  Leave  the  squirrels 
alone.  Now locate the fire pit,  put the birds nest in the  fire 
pit  along with the tree branch.  Light up the fire pit with  the 
lighter.  With  light  now  in the cavern  go  near  the  strange 
markings  on  the wall,  and connect the yellow  dots  using  the 
yellow  crayon.  BANG!  A magic wall.  Go in and use  the  remote 
control to have access to the blue crystal.






     Reaching  back to the airport take a flight to Miami  during 
the  flight do the toilet trick that I described above and  while 
she  is  busy  cleaning it up the mess go in  the  front  of  the 
airplane,  open the microwave,  put the egg in the microwave  and 
close it.  Turn on the microwave and OH!  What a mess to clean up 
again.  During the time that she is busy cleaning up the mess you 
made in the microwave,  go trough every storage bin on the  plane 
and you will eventually find an oxygen tank. Arrived at the Miami 
airport  give the book to the bum and in return he will give  you 
some whiskey.

     You are now still in the Miami airport,  use the reservation 
terminal to buy a ticket for San Francisco and take the plane.

     You have now arrived on your street,  once off the  bus,  go 
home  and  listen  to your telephone messages  on  the  answering 
machine.  It's  now  time to head for 14th Ave to drop  the  blue 
Crystal in the artifact slot.

     You will now meet Annie,  Notice a new option SWITCH on  the 
control panel.

     Switch  to Annie and lift the Blotter on the desk,  pick  up 
the CashCard.

     Switch back to Zak and go to the airport and take a trip  to 
London,  England and then take the direction of Katmandu,  Nepal. 
At Katmandu give the book to the Guard, and he will let you in so 
you can meet the Guru.  After you have meet the Guru,  leave  the 
building and go to the right,  notice a hay stack, set the hay on 
fire by using your lighter.  Fire!  Fire! The policeman will come 
to the rescue, during this time you will go in the police station 
(jail) and get the jail keys that are hanging on the wall  during 
you  exit  don't  forget the flagpole on  the  wall  outside  the 
station.  To  go  back to the airport use your  CashCard  in  the 
license plate of the Yak.

     At the airport buy a ticket for Kinshasa,  Zaire.  There you 
will meet a doctor named Shaman in a hut,  enter the hut and give 
him the golf club. He will be very pleased and he will show you a 
secret  dance.  Observe the dance attentivaly and write  down  on 
Diagram 1 the order from 1 to 6 of the movement of the heads.
     
     On The Planet Mars
     ------------------
     
     Switch  for  a  moment to Leslie and  Melissa  on  Mars  and 
execute the following instructions.

     Use Melissa to open the door and enter the VW spaceship. Get 
the CashCard in the glove compartment along with the  fuse.  Also 
get  the  DAT tape in the radio.  Give the fuse and  CashCard  to 
Leslie once outside. 


     Getting  out  of the VW spaceship close the  VW's  door  and 
switch to Leslie.  Go to the left passed The Friendly Hostel to a 
Monolith  and put the CashCard in the slot,  you will  receive  a 
token.  Buy  at least two tokens for each person.  Now go to  The 
Friendly  Hostel  and use the token to unscrew  the  metal  plate 
inside. Then remove the old fuse and place a new one in it.

     Closing the Mars door and opening the hostel door go in  and 
pull the covers from the bunk. (Only Leslie can do that.) Get the 
alien broom. Don't forget the ladder. Going back to the Mars door 
(Main  door)  open it (Both doors should now be  open.)  and  the 
hostel will depressurize,  go back to the other room and open the 
locker, remove the vinyl tape and open the other locker door, get 
the  flashlight.  Exiting  the hostel building use the  broom  to 
sweep the sand and you will discover a solar panel.

     Going  right  you  will arrive at a door  with  three  large 
buttons  on  it.  (The  two girls  should be  there.)  Press  the 
buttons six times in the order that you have writen on Diagram 1. 
Once inside,  go to door number 1 (Diagram 2),  in order to  open 
the door.  You must take the ladder and lift the crystal  sphere, 
but  before  you do that give the vinyl tape to Melissa  and  she 
will put that on the DAT tape so she can record. Next turn on the 
boom  box  on  record mode and then Leslie will  lift  the  ball. 
Inside  make  your way around!  (Good Luck) and then  you  should 
eventualy  encounter two things first an old earth map  and  some 
strange  markings which you will draw in the box named Diagram  3 
and later you will find a very strange machine that has gauges on 
it  and is used to control air pressure  and  temperature.  After 
that this machine is set you can remove your helmet.  (Remove the 
helmets of Melissa and Leslie, if you like.)

     To open door 2,  bring Leslie and Melissa near the door  and 
then  turn  on the boom box on play mode.  The  door  will  open. 
Inside you should find an Ankh.

     While  in  the  direction of door  number  3  (Indicated  on 
Diagram  2).  Stop  and look at the strange  markings  on  statue 
number 2.  (Statue position shown on Diagram 2.) Using a pen draw 
the strange marking in the section named Diagram 4.

     To open door 3, lift up the ball like you did on door number 
1 and in there you will find a room with a panel, insert the Ankh 
in the panel and the force field will disappear.  Get the  Golden 
Key,  but don't touch the large key.  (or it will  disintegrate.) 
Notice  that there is a button on the machine,  press the  button 
and  a message from the Skolarians will appear on the glass  tube 
telling  you  that  you must build a  device  to  neutralize  the 
Caponian menace.  The only thing left to do is to wait for Zak to 
arrive on Mars.






     Mexico City, Mexico  (MEX)
     --------------------------
     
     Switching back to Zak and leaving Kinshasa,  Zaire go to the 
airport and take a plane for Cairo, Egypt and transfer on a plane 
to Miami,  FL and then to Mexico City,  Mexico.  Maybe London and 
then Mexico City?

     Finding  your  way through the jungle  you  will  eventually 
arrive  near  a temple.  Enter the temple and light  up  all  the 
torches that you will find along the way. During your exploration 
you will encounter a red room with a statue in it,  a platform is 
also  located  in  the corner of the room.  On the  statue  is  a 
crystal   shard,  but in order to get it you must draw Diagram  4 
using your crayon on the strange markings.  Trying to get out  of 
the  temple and in the direction of the airport,  at the  airport 
take a flight to Miami, Fl then transfer to Cairo, Egypt and from 
there transfer again to your disination of Kinshasa,  Zaire. Wait 
for Annie to meet you there.

     London, England  (LHR)
     ----------------------

     Annie should have in her inventory:  CashCard, whiskey, Flag 
pole,  wire cutters, scroll and the two crystal shard. Make Annie 
walk up to the Sentry and offer him a drink of whiskey.  Then,  a 
half bottle later Annie will turn off the switch in the  sentry's 
house  and cut a hole in the fence using the  wire  cutters.

     Now walk towards the stonehenge and you will arrive in front 
of an Altar Stone.  There use the flag pole on the Altar and also 
place  the two crystal shard on the Altar,  next read the  scroll 
and  get ready for a blot of lighting.  Annie will now  have  the 
yellow crystal,  it is now time to travel to Kinshasa,  Zaire the 
route to follow is to go to Katmandu,  Nepal and then transfer to 
Kinshasa,  Zaire.  Zak should meet Annie in Kinshasa, there Annie 
will  give the yellow crystal to Zak and Zak will go in  the  hut 
and  meet  the Shamam who will teach Zak how to  use  the  yellow 
crystal for teleportation.

     Cairo, Egypt (CAI)
     ------------------

     Go  near the leg of the Sphinx,  there you will notice  some 
strange markings.  Using your crayon,  copy the drawing that  you 
made  labeled  Diagram  3.  If  you  have  followed  instructions 
carefully there should be a door that will appear in the Sphinx's 
leg.  Enter  the door and search for a room.  In this room  there 
will be three buttons,  press the buttons and you will discover a 
map  of the Martian face.  A little above the map there  is  some 
strange markings, again copy this drawing on to the space labeled 
Diagram  5.  Now try and find the exit in order to head  for  the 
airport.

 
     Lima, Peru (LIM)
     -----------------

     Finding  your  way though the forest you will arrive  at  an 
ancient  bird feeder.  Place the bread crumes on the bird  feeder 
and wait for the bird to arrive.  When the bird is finally  there 
use  the  blue crystal on the bird,  you are now  controling  the 
bird,  fly  to the huge face on the other side of the  river  and 
enter  the  left eye in there get the scroll and don't  waste  an 
instant to bring it back to Zak. As soon as Zak has the scroll in 
his  possestion run away to the airport before the alien  catches 
you.

     Bermuda Triangle
     ----------------

     Riding  on  the bi-plane of the Divine Wind Tours  you  will 
arrive  on the King's Spaceship.  Watch carefully and write  down 
the  order of the code on Diagram 6.  Once there put on your  hat 
and nose glasses and press the button to open the door.  You will 
be  greeted by a Caponian,  he will bring you to the  King.  Apon 
arriving in front of the King, he (the King) will examine you and 
discover that you are not part of his race,  at this moment  show 
him the King's Fan Club Card. (In the mail box remember?) You can 
also  give him the guitar instead and see what it  will  do?  You 
will be escorted out by the alien. Once this is done head for the 
right  of  your screen and go take a look  at  the  Lott-O-Dictor 
machine write down tomorrow's winning numbers in the space called 
Diagram 7.
    
     It's now or never,   jump out of the alien spaceship.  Press 
the button in the order you have written on Diagram 6,  and  then 
go to the place where the airplane was before it left.  Zap!  You 
are  falling  very  rapidly  and it would be  wise  to  use  your 
parachute. You are now floating in the water. (With a little help 
of the cushion.) Play a little Kazoo and a dolphin will come  and 
meet  you,  use your blue crystal on the dolphin and direct  your 
dolphine  underwater  and  search for a seaweed  with  a  glowing 
object hidden underneath, take the object and give it to Zak. Now 
press  on  the command "to Zak" and use your  yellow  crystal  to 
teleport  yourself to the Martian face before the  alien  catches 
you.

     
     Back on Mars
     ------------

     Zak has teleported himself to the Martian Face and using the 
crayon  has  drawn Diagram 5 on  the  strange  markings.  Another 
surprise the doors magicaly opens. Enter the center door and find 
your  way to the main hall of the Martian face.  Arrived  in  the 
main  hall,  switch back to Lislie and Melissa and guide them  in 
order for them to meet Zak.




     The reunion is finally over,  guide the three characters  to 
the monolith near the tram.  Don't forget to put on the fish bowl 
with  the tape and the oxygen mask,  so that Zak can  breath.  It 
would  be  wise  on  the way to the monlith to  stop  at  the  VW 
spaceship  and  refill the oxygen level of  all  the  characters. 
Arriving at the monolith make sure that everybody has two  tokens 
each, just in case someone has to come back for something.

     Using  the tram with the token and boarding all your  people 
on  the  tram at the same time,  you will arrive at  the  Martian 
pyramid  complex.  With all your characters standing in front  of 
the door of the pyramid.  Switch to Leslie and sweep the sandpile 
using  the  alien broom.  After the brooms little show  is  done, 
switch back to Zak and use the Bobby pin to unlock the door.

     Switching to Melissa,  guide her to doorway and then to  the 
Sarcophagus  and have her push on the Sarcophagus  feet.  (Forget 
the torch,  it won't light up.) Switching back to Leslie have her 
meet Melissa,  notice that there is some stairs to the back  left 
hand side of the room.  Go up the stairs,  do the same thing with 
Zak.  (Notice that the stairs will only appear if the Sarcophagus 
feet are push and remain pushed.)

     The current situation is that Melissa is pushing the feet of 
the Sarcophagus,  Zak and Leslie are upstairs.  The next thing to 
do is to have Melissa release the feet of the Sarcophagus so that 
Zak and Leslie can have access to the room upstairs. Using Leslie 
guide her to the box in the corner and unlock it with the  golden 
key.  Now guide Zak near the white crystal.  Which is held in the 
containment  device by a Crystalinetic force.  Leslie should  now 
press on the button in the box, and you will have to switch again 
to Zak and get the white crystal while the crystalinetic force is 
not in effect.  Hurry up...  it does not stay inactive very long. 
If you miss your chance try again by pressing the button  another 
time.

     With the white crystal in Zak's hand,  the light in the room 
will  disappear  and nothing can stop  you  anylonger.  Use  your 
yellow crystal to teleport yourself to the Egyptian Pyramid. Once 
there guide Annie to meet you there by using the entrance of  the 
pyramid.  Then  remove Zak's spacesuit.  (Wet  suit,  fish  bowl, 
oxygen mask.)
     
     Install   the  blue,   white  and  yellow  crystal  on   the 
Crystalabra.  Using both Zak and Annie,  turn on the switches  on 
the wall and this will activate the Skolarian device.
