THE FILE SELECTOR MODULE
========================

This module replaces the regular file selector. It works just like the
old one, but allows you to do a lot more, like copying files, deleting
files, creating folders and checking the available space on your
floppy disks and hard drives. It also allows you to store 10 "disk
paths" for instant access. Without this module, opening/saving a file
is a two stage process: you select the type of file in one dialog and
then a regular Atari file dialog opens. With this module, this all
happens in one dialog box.

In the upper right hand corner of the file selector is the "Functions"
pop-up menu. The available functions are:

Copy
====

This function copies selected files.
1. Select the file or files you want to copy by clicking in the
   file list (hold down [Shift] for multiple selections).
2. Select Copy from the Functions pop-up.

   to copy the files), by using the file list or by selecting a
   pre-defined path (see below).
4. Click the Copy button or press [Return].

the selected disk.

Save Prefs
==========

This functions saves the current File Selector settings as defaults.

Paths
=====
In the upper left corner you will find the path selector. You can
store up to 10 of your most often used disk paths, for instant access.

If you click the word "Path:" in the path selector, a pop-up menu
appears with a list of the 10 disk paths. Unused positions are called
"empty".

To activate a path, just select it from the menu.

To store a path, proceed as follows:
1. Set up the path you want to store, by using the file list.
2. While holding down [Shift], pull down the menu and click on
   the desired item.

File Types
==========
In the right half of the File selector you will find eight check
boxes. When you check one of these boxes, the file selector will only
display files of the selected file type. Folders are always shown. If
you hold down [Shift] while selecting a file type, the Path selector
also changes to a stored Path that contains the selected file type. If
multiple Paths contain the same file type the most recently used will
be selected.

New Folder
==========
This button creates a new folder in the current path, on the selected
disk.
1. Select the desired Path.
2. Click the "New Folder" button.
3. Type the name of the new folder in the box that appears.
4. Press [Return] to confirm.

The Drive Selectors
===================
Beside the file list are 18 letter boxes (A to P). These are he Drive
Selectors and clicking one displays its contents in the files list.
Unavailable drives are grey.

Info Line
=========
Below the file list is an Info Line which displays the number and
total size of the selected items in the file list. If nothing is
selected, the info line displays the number of items shown in the list
and their total size. Since folders have no size, the info line says
"0 bytes" if the file list only shows folders. To display the size of
a folder's contents, simply select the folder.
