               FixAIF v1.1 (5 January 1999)
               ----------------------------

This program is Freeware by Roger Burrows, Anodyne Software.
Distribute freely, but please keep this document with the program!

Introduction
------------
Many sound or music programs create files in the AIF format. AIF files
contain a header followed by the actual digital sample data. Although
the AIF format is well-documented, some programs create AIF files with
an incorrect sample count in the header; other programs require an
input AIF file to be a specific variant of AIF, called Cubase-compatible
(because it was originated by the Cubase program).

Function
--------
The purpose of this program is to convert one or more AIF files to
Cubase-compatible AIF. Although this function is available through
such programs as 525, FixAIF provides a simple and free alternative
for those who don't need the many other features of these programs.
My apologies for the unsophisticated user interface (alert-ware) ...
but it _was_ written & tested in about 4 hours, and it _is_ free :-).

Supported file formats
----------------------
The input file MUST be in AIF format. It can be mono or stereo, 8-bit
or 16-bit, and any frequency. The output file will have exactly the
same characteristics, but will be in Cubase-compatible format.

Usage
-----
After the program starts, it displays an introductory message and then
prompts for the input file name & the output file name. It then performs
the conversion. Any errors will cause a message to be issued; a message
will also be issued when the conversion is successful. At the end of
processing an input file, you will be given the option of converting
another file. Reply Yes to repeat the process; reply No to terminate
the program.
