THE CALAMUS LINEARITY-MODULE
============================

This module was written for calibrations during the print-output of
Calamus. The corroctions the module does, take effect only for print-
output. On screen you will see no effect.

Usage:

To do the calibration-setup just click on the icon in the printing-
dialog. After clicking the control-line dialog appears and you can
adjust the linearity-corrections. This works as you were setting up
control-lines for a 4C-image with the difference, that this setting
takes effect on ALL colors directly before the printing.

The LIN-module works like this:
-------------------------------

4-Color-Output
--------------

RGB --<SEPARATION>--+
  |
  |
  +-+-> [C] --<LIN-Controlline 1 > --> Intensity
  | +-> [Y] --<LIN-Controlline 2 > --> Intensity
  | +-> [M] --<LIN-Controlline 3 > --> Intensity
  | +-> [K] --<LIN-Controlline 4 > --> Intensity
  |
CYMK ---------------+

3-Color-Output
-------------

RGB ----------------+
  |
  |
  +-+-> [R] --<LIN-Controlline 1 > --> Intensity
  | +-> [G] --<LIN-Controlline 2 > --> Intensity
  | +-> [B] --<LIN-Controlline 3 > --> Intensity
  |
CYMK -<RECALCULATION>--+

b/w-Output
----------

RGB --<RECALCULATION>---+
  |
  +---> [K] --<LIN-Controlline 1 > --> Intensity
  |
CYMK -<RECALCULATION>--+

ATTENTION:
==========

Not like the control-lines in the separation or the image-control-lines,
the control-lines of the LIN-module are used only in the very last
state of output and take effect on ALL intensities.

You do not need to adjust the calibration every time you start the
LIN-module or Calamus. Therefore it is possible to define a standard-
calibration-lineset that will be automatically loaded any time you load
the module. This standard-definition has to be named "DEFLIN.CK4" and
must be placed where the "LIN.CXM" lies (normally the module-folder).
After you had done the right settings in LIN, just save the settings
in the module-folder and name it "DEFLIN.CK4".
After you had done this the calibration-setting is used every time you
print with Calamus.

REMARK:
=======

You should use this module only, if your printer (or imagesetter)
falsifies the output-intensities. No matter what you do - you always
should know WHAT you are doing. If not, the printing-results can be
terrible.

FOR OVERVIEW:
=============

- Control-lines on images enhance the look of the single image.

- The separation-control-lines take effect on the RGB->CYMK-conversion.

- The control-lines in LIN calibrate your printing-output that the result
  of the separation (e.g. cyan 75%) fits to the color printed on the
  paper (75% cyan-intensity on paper).
