	- Welcome to Steinberg Falcon030 8 Channel Audio Recording! -

This program records up to 8 channels audio signals
from the DSP-Port to 4 stereo (AIFF) audio files. You
will need appropriate hardware (like Sound Pool's Falcon
ADAT Digital Interface).
Choose 8 Channel Recording... from the File Menu
after you started the program. Please make sure no other
programs or Accessories are active, as recording 8 channels
puts a lot of stress to both the CPU and your Hard Disk,
and other processes might get in the way.
A small dialog opens, where you should first select
a file name. Note that the final names of the (up to)
4 stereo files will get an ascending number attached to
them, thus only the first 7 letters will make it into
the final names (example: ADAT will become ADAT1.AIF,
ADAT2.AIF, etc).
In the section labelled 'Monitor', you can select which
pair of channels are audible at both the Headphone Output,
and a digital output attached (like Steinberg FDI). You may
also enable the internal speaker to listen to the pair of
monitor channels chosen. Note that the Monitor selection
has no effect on which channels are recorded.
This is chosen in the Record selection area. You may
for instance want to record only channels 1 and 2, and
channel 5 and 6; to do so, enable these pairs (they appear
in black color), and disable 3-4 and 7-8 (white). This
feature can also be used if the Hard Disk is too slow to
record all of the 8 channels at one time.
Press Record to effectively start recording (to be
able to do so, you must have selected a file name). The
program immedeately starts to record; please make sure
not to do anything but press the Stop button when done.
Try to avoid to move the mouse rapidly, as this may cause
recording to fail if the Hard Disk isn't fast enough.
Please also note that exsisting recordings with the
same name(s) are replaced without warning.
You may have to keep the mouse button pressed for
some time when you want to Stop recording, due to the
computer beeing busy to record the audio data.
Some final notes: the program doesn't check for
the type of disk you attempt to record to; it expects
an SCSI, or, at least, an IDE Hard Disk, so attempting
to record to a floppy disk will most probably fail :-)
Finally, you may import the recorded files into
Cubase for the Atari Falcon030 for further editing,
play them back to the ADAT, or as 8 individual analogue
outputs via the Steinberg FA8 interface.

    Happy 8-channel Recording.
