This message is directed at all of you out there who are editors of regular
computer magazines, Atari magazines, Atari club 'zines, the works.
On December 12th 1997, it will be exactly 10 years ago that the first version
of the "Ultimate Virus Killer" was released (even though at the time it was
still known as "Virus Destruction Utility"). I would like this day not to go by
unnoticed, so I would like as much press coverage as possible, most
particularly in whatever issue you are releasing around the beginning of
December. I am thinking of feature articles, a history of viruses on the ST,
and possibly stuff on a cover disk (if there is one). In the latter context I
am thinking of a demo version of the virus killer (I could make a preprod demo
version of 8.0 well before December 12th), or a new version (updated and
enhanced) of the "Ultimate Virus Killer Book" 'on disk version'. Reviews would
also be much appreciated, although the anniversary version won't be finished
until December 12th so you'd have to make do with version 7.1 that I finished
about a week ago.
I would also like to do something in the order of "UVK" discount offers for
your readers or club members. Please contact me for details in case you want to
undertake something.
I don't want to do things twice and I would very much like to prevent two
identical articles from appearing in two different magazines, unless they're
published on different continents or in different languages. Stuff planned so
far includes an "X-Files"-style history of viruses on the ST for "Atari
Computing" in the UK and something similar for a German magazine (in German).
I am available for any information you need, and also for interviews if you
think that's a good idea. If you want me to do anything special (custom "UVK"
demo versions, etc.), please make me aware of the deadline of the issue that's
closest to early December so I know when to do stuff at my side of things.
