                                  ----------

STUFF ADDED/CHANGED IN THIS VERSION:
------------------------------------
- packed (partially repacked), linked
- Mega/ST/E/Falcon030/TT compatibility (on all TOS versions)

fast machines to keep it playable while enjoying a smooth framerate.
- improved mouse responsiveness in the menu (a bit)
- fixed some other minor bugs/glitches
- added an abort-game-and-return-to-menu key (ESC)
- added quit option
- added memory snapshot option

- level construction set not included in this version but you may load
user created levels by placing the levels file (named "TONIC.SET") into
  the game directory

SOURCE:
-------
Pasti images from original disks.
It seems that the pasti images used here are from a very
early version of the game. There are some differences to the
other versions floating around (like the Edge logo on startup
instead of the d3m logo). There were also a few typos and
rough edges in this version, some of which have been fixed,
like a typo in the programmer's name ("Paul C*r*isset" -
thanks GGN). No protection in this version either.

CONTROLS:
---------
Control is by mouse, with the odd key:

While playing:
ESC - abort game in progress and return to main menu
Any other key - pause game, hit key again to resume

Extra keys:
Control D - quit to desktop
Control 1 - 9 - save memory snapshot #1 - #9
Control F1 - F9 - load memory snapshot #1 - #9

Hidden keys on the Klaz intro text screen:
H - toggle 50/60Hz (on Mega/ST/E)
L - toggle internal speaker on/off (on Falcon/TT)

TRAINER OPTIONS:
----------------
- Access all levels:
you may choose a start level from 1 to 32 on the menu screen.

- Skip levels with "S":
while playing hit the "S" key to go to the next level.

- Infinite lives:
well...... ;-)

MEMORY SNAPSHOTS:
-----------------
Memory snapshots can be saved/loaded at any time once the program has
loaded to the main menu. There may be a delay until loading/saving actually
starts when the program is busy loading or unpacking data.

Here's the original "manual" with some editing by me:

GETTING STARTED

On the menu use mouse up and down to move the blue dot cursor up and down
the options. Number of players and playing level can be changed by moving
the mouse left or right to cycle through the different settings of each
option. Tonic Tile has 33 playing levels but only the first 16 are
accessible from this menu. To start the game or view the highscore table
click mouse button on the appropriate option.

PLAYING

Press button to 'serve' the ball. Keep the ball in play, using it to smash
all the tiles on each level. Silver tiles require two hits and transparent
tiles are indestructible. Special power pills can be caught that will give
your deflector various extra powers:

red pill: laser
blue pill: larger deflector
green pill: glue
orange pill: slowdown ball
light blue pill: three balls
grey pill: extra life
pink pill: go to next level (press button after catching pill)

Press any key (apart from ESC) to pause the game, and any key to restart.
You can get to any of the first 16 levels from the startup menu, but the
other 17 have to be played for. Only really skilled players will make it
through to level 33, and if you can you'd better be prepared for a big
surprise!
