Thank you for trying the new version of Pine!  Instead of attempting to
provide specific details on Pine changes and capabilities, this message
will review several sources of information about Pine: 

 o The built-in "Help" text.  Start with the "?" command on the Main Menu.
   This will give you basic information on Pine, but remember that every
   Pine screen has its own separate Help text.

 o The built-in "Release Notes".  Press "R" on the Main Menu, and you'll
   find an extensive document that lists the changes made since the
   previous version, installation information, project history, and
   various legal notices.

 o The built-in "Config" command.  From the Main Menu "Setup" command,
   press "C" and you'll find a dazzling number of options and features.
   Some of these are configuration values necessary for Pine's basic
   operation, but most are options for tailoring Pine's behavior to
   your personal taste and turning on some of Pine's advanced features.
   Once Pine is correctly installed, you shouldn't *need* to look here,
   but if you find yourself wishing that Pine behaved differently,
   by all means run through the Config screen and see if there is an
   entry that pertains.  Note that each entry has its own "help" text,
   accessed by pressing "?" after you've highlighted the option or
   feature of interest.

 o The built-in "Update Service".  From the Main Menu "Setup" command,
   press "U" and this will connect you to a computer at the University
   of Washington in Seattle (the birthplace of Pine) which contains
   the latest information on Pine status and other resources such as
   the Pine Technical Notes and Frequently Asked Questions.

Finally, if you have access to the World Wide Web, we call your attention
to UW's Pine Information Center at http://www.washington.edu/pine

If you are unable to find the information you need from these resources,
or have a suggestion or bug to report, use the "Report Bug" command (B on
the Main Menu).  Note that if your local support staff is unable to help
you, the world-wide newsgroup "comp.mail.pine" is an excellent source of
assistance.
