Why? The router knows in advance how to route to a particular address from
the ROUTE.TAB file and this can easily be looked up in to find out the IP
address to fill in the field.

<<You know as well as I do that when the original STiK specs were created
there existed no servers at all for STiK, so please don't talk of the
'standard way' as if it was a long established and much used standard
for server programming. AFAIK no server program ever used it

Originally the only use made of listening connections was in clients
that expected a 'callback' connection from a single known remote, and
that alone is why the original spec was then sufficient.

Real servers must expect to be called from an unknown number of
remotes, some of which may be on a local net while others are on
remote networks (ie: Internet). This means that different calls
will access the same server under different IP addresses, and so
the local IP used for connections of such servers will not be
definite until the connection is fully established at arrival
of the first packet from a client.>>

This isn't true as an ftp client, irc client must all know their own IP
address to function correctly as they pass the address of an open listen
socket on their machine to the other end of the connection. Under STiNG
they can't do this, yet can under any TCP/IP stack.

See you earlier,
