Short introduction to PinPoint and Calendar 23 August 1998

Sorry, there is no English documentation for these two programs.

PinPoint lets you put notes on your desktop. Calendar is similar to
PinPoint, only that it puts notes about dates and appointments on your
desktop.

To install one or both, you need a multitasking OS such as MultiTOS,
N.AES or MagiC (MagiCMac and MagiC-PC will also work).

For PinPoint:
Copy PINPOINT.APP into your START folder (with MagiC) or arrange it
somehow that it will be activated at boot time. Since PinPoint uses
GEM it can _not_ be started from the AUTO folder. Copy the file
PINPOINT.INF into your $HOME directory or into the folder
$HOME/defaults. Reboot.
Double click on PinPoint's window. A popup will appear which offers
you the choices of editing the text from the window, re-load the
PINPOINT.INF file, change the font, save the parameters (position of
the window), top the window or quit PinPoint.
To edit the contents of the window you can either set an environment
variable $EDITOR to point to your favourite text editor or tell your
desktop that it should invoke that editor when double clicking on
PINPOINT.INF. You need a desktop which supports the AV_START message
for the second option.

For Calendar:
Installation and handling is similar to PinPoint. Instead of the
PINPOINT.INF file, it is the file CALENDAR which contains the
information to be displayed in Calendar's window. Enter your
appointments in this file. If you're familiar with the Unix tool
"calendar" - CALENDAR.APP has borrowed a lot from that tool.
(Sorry, no time to explain CALENDAR.INF. Any volunteers for a
translation of the documentation?)
