This software is SHAREWARE. If you use it for longer than a nominal
test period, you are morally and legally OBLIGED to register.

The software has taken a lot of hard work just to translate into
English and to document, so I can only imagine how long it took to
write!

The registration fee is 16 Pounds Sterling (17 Pounds for people
outside Great Britain). Cheques (inc. Euro) should be made payable to
"D.Bhabuta" and be sent to:

	CyberSTrider,
	203 Parr Lane,
	Unsworth,

This software is a complete modular Fax management package for your Atari
computer. It is completely multitasking and GEM friendly and should run on
any Atari computer. with a Class 1 or 2 Fax modem connected. As far as I
(Steve) know it is completely free of bugs. HOWEVER, see the section at the
end, entitled "Special Information".

With it you can expect to do the following:

Compose Faxes from Text files and Image files
	Send Faxes
	Receive Faxes
	View incoming and outgoing faxes
Print incoming and outgoing faxes (with GDOS and a printer driver)
	Auto-Receive Faxes
	Ring 'Fax-U-Back' services
	File incoming and outgoing faxes
Maintain an address and telephone and Fax number directory

ENGLISH.TXT This file

You will have to determine whether your modem supports Fax Class 1 and/or
Class 2. If this not stated in the documentation, use Sysinfo from
atari.archive.umich.edu to determine it. If the modem supports both, class
2 is preferable.

In the MTX folder, you should rename whichever driver you will use to
FAXDRV.MTX and delete the other. If you leave it there it will do no
harm.

Now run OFFICE.PRG and select Module/Configuration. Go through this
sub-menu item at at time, and set the following. Other settings are
optional, but if you don't understand something, leave it as it is, or ask
me.

In Module/Configuration/Files
-If a text editor or IMG editor is not defined, you will not be able
to create these from within Junior Office i.e. all text or graphics will
need to be imported from existing files. CHANGE DIRECTORY should be
selected if your chosen editor requires to be run from its own directory to
find its resources.

In Module/Configuration/Modem
-It may be necessary to increase the CARRIER WAIT time if the Fax
machine you are dialling is slow to answer.
-The dial prefix/command should be ATD for all Hayes compatible modems
-14400 bps increases the transfer rate from 9600 bps. But your modem
may well only support one or the other - you will have to experiment.

Now SAVE your configuration information buy selecting
Modules/Configuration/Save Config.

Lastly, enter at least one address into the address book by selecting
File/Addresses and following the highly intuitive dialog box :-)

***************YOU ARE NOW READY TO FAX!!!!!!**********************

To Send a Fax:
""""""""""""""

>First you must enable Outgoing Faxing. To do this, go to Modules/FaxDriver
and toggle "Sending Disabled" to "Sending Enabled". Then quit the Fax
driver by clicking on Okay. You will need to do this every time before
Faxing unless you can find a way to save this option - I couldn't!

>go to Modules/ComposeFax: The following Icons enable to to construct a
Fax...

"Letter A" = IMPORT A TEXT FILE
"Paint Brush" = IMPORT AN IMG FILE
NB: If you choose a non existant file, a new one will be created by the
specified editor, and it will then be imported.

You can freely move imported images and text around the Fax window, even
between pages. If you need to delete or modify the image/text simply
double-click on it and you will be given the chance.

The chequered button allows you to toggle the fax's resolution between 98
dpi and 196 dpi.

The magnifying glass allows you to preview the Fax. If you double click on
the preview window, the screen resolution doubles. You can move around this
window by simply holding the left button down within the Window, and moving
the mouse. The window will be scrolled real-time.

When you are ready to send the Fax, Click on the top button {?]

You will be presented with the address manager. More addresses can be
entered/deleted/modified/loaded/saved etc. Double click on the one to
which you want the Fax to be sent.

It will be sent immediately provided you have sending enabled within the
Fax driver. If it is unsuccessful, it will be continually retried without
you needing to do anything. Beware though, it will continue to retry
whatever you do!

To receive a Fax:
"""""""""""""""""

See 'special information' on using the Fax driver as an ACC or PRG.
Otherwise:

Answer the phone and hear Fax tones... THEN VERY QUICKLY
Select Modules/Fax Driver and click on "Receive".
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!

To auto-receive Faxes: ...is just as easy!
""""""""""""""""""""""
See 'special information' on using the Fax driver as an ACC or PRG.
Otherwise:

Select Modules/Fax Driver and click on Auto-Receive ON
Click on OKAY
And leave it at that! All calls will be answered as Faxes.

If you buy an Automatic Fax switch only Fax calls will be sent to your
modem, enabling voice calls to be answered by an answering machine.

To view a Fax:
"""""""""""""

This applies equally to ooutgoing Faxes stored on your disk or Faxes which
have arrived from elsewhere.

Simply click on Modules/View fax and you will meet the Fax manager. The
arrow denotes whether the Fax is incoming or outgoing, and new faxes appear
at the top (or the bottom - I forget which now).

When you double click on a Fax, it is sent to the viewer window, which is
the same as when previewing an outgoing Fax.

You can move around it with the standard Gem scroll bars, or by holding the
left button whilst the mouse pointer is within the window and driving
around.

Double clicking within the Window toggles between two viewing resolutions.

One of the Icons on the left allows you to output the Fax... You can output
it to your printer provided GDOS and a suitable printer driver are
installed.

It also allows you to save the fax as an IMG file - in one of three
resolutions.

Special Information
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Although the software is pre-configured to run from C:\OFFICE it will run
from any drive. Move the entire OFFICE folder to the ROOT directory of your
chosen drive and run OFFICE.PRG whilst holding down the CONTROL KEY

OFFICE.PRG will also run as an ACC but I have ignored this option because
(a) I have never tried it and (b) it makes the installation more
complicated.

FAXDRV.MTX will also run as a standalone PRG or ACC! I have ignored this
option because (a) I have never tried it and (b) it makes the installation
more complicated. However it may be useful to install it as an ACC so that
you can receive or auto-receive Faxes when using another GEM program and
you have no multitasking environment.

Although the software is multitasking-happy, I personally recommend that
the 'Fax in background' switch is set to OFF, so that you get visual
feedback whilst Faxes are occurring. When you are confident that Faxing is
taking place correctly, you can (if you want) turn this feature on.

I would also recommend that you set 'Delete after successfully sent' to ON,
as otherwise I have known it to re-fax faxes which have already got
through. This caused me no end of trouble when last week's order went to my
supplier instead of this week's!

Mainly because I have not had time to translate them, I have left out the
following from the original German Achive

)a driver for Sierra modems

)drivers for modems which do not support 'legal' ring indication

)Everest - a text editor (one is needed to input new text)

)HSmodem - will replace the serial driver code of any Atari so it is
bug-free and as fast as can be!

)1WP2FAX - Converts 1st Word Plus documents into a Fax format

>AMCGDOS - a third party GDOS which is entirely in German. You can get this
from FTP sites, or alternatively use:

Atari GDOS, NVDI2, NVDI 3, SpeedoGDOS, FSM GDOS, FontGDOS or any
incarnation I don't know about :)
