This file is an example of a MIDI Spy set file. There are 20 different
songs in it. Here's the story of how it was recorded.

I started by loading CLICK092.MSQ. It's in the DRUMTRAX folder. Then I
took a score I have of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 and began to
create a multi-layered recording. Following the procedure shown in the
Overdubbing tutorial, I recorded the strings, oboe, flute and trumpet,
merging each together. Once the basic parts were recorded, I removed the
click track song and the interim merged songs, leaving only the solo
songs.

This song set was created using a Roland Sound Canvas. There are two
songs (15 & 20) which contain the Sound Canvas settings. Since the Sound
Canvas is "General MIDI", it's possible that this will also sound the same
on other General MIDI devices. Watch out for the trumpet -- it's
transposed up a fourth! This transposition is done for you automatically
if you've got a Sound Canvas and you "play" either song 15 or 20.

Here are the contents of the songs in BRANDEN2.MST:

  1 - Cello continuo Channel 1
  2 - Cello Channel 2
  3 - Viola Channel 3
  4 - Violin II Channel 4
  5 - Violin I Channel 5
  6 - Solo Violin Channel 6
  7 - Oboe Channel 7
  8 - Flute Channel 8
9 - Trumpet - this part must be transposed up a fourth (+5)! Channel 9
 10 - Mix of 1-9
11 - Harpsichord (with a bit of jazz influence) Channel 12
 12 - Mix of 10-11
13 - Slap Bass (not quite baroque) Channel 13
 14 - Mix of 12-13
15 - Sound Canvas settings for songs 1-14
16 - Guitar (similar to 11, but for guitar) Channel 12
 17 - Mix of 10 and 16
 18 - Triangle Channel 10
 19 - Mix of 17-18
20 - Sound Canvas settings for songs 16-19

NOTE: You'll note that the whole movement is not recorded. My click track
ran out so the parts kind of petered out. I thought about rerecording it
some day because most of the tracks were first-takes and a little sloppy,
but who knows if I'll ever find the time.

I hope you enjoy it.
