This is what still being a CS major in school and having no exposure
to the "real world" (tm) yet will do for you.

The article was probably right. C is still low down on the list of
most widely used languages. Most engineers and scientists still use
either ForTran or BASIC (or some derivative form of basic), most
economists and social scientists use either ForTran, and COBOL is
still number one with the banking and accounting crowd.

As far as most used language on a PC? MicroSoft and DOS saw to it
that BASIC clearly wins in that category. As a matter of fact,
when I first bought my ST, it came with BASIC and LOGO...for people
who don't want to do any serious programming, they probably wouldn't
buy a language, just use the interpreters that came with their machine.

So, don't laugh too hard...I did, but after getting my Masters, and
contracting around for about 5 years, and reading the trade journals,
and talking with other computer professionals....C still has a way
to go outside the computer science field.

I've never had a problem with MWC (yet) but then I've never actually
looked for the problems you mentioned. I have done a lot of stuff
with arrays (which involves pointer arithmetic) and have yet to find
a problem.

I heard a couple of days ago that it was finally available. But I also
heard (unfortunately) that it was buggy. I don't know how true it is
and I didn't hear to what extent but they did say something about the
thing not fitting in some STs!
