				About Golf

After working on this sequence, I have toyed with the idea of doing a golf
game (mostly because a friend of mine keeps asking me to after seeing it).
The idea would be to create a game in which you couldn't fit more than one
or two holes on one single sided floppy disk because it was so detailed.
Although I do not own any golf games there seems to be a few out on the
market. If you think there is room for one more, let me know.
The initial geography of this sequnce was created as a topo map in Degas
Elite. It was then converted into a 3D object using Dan Reifsnyder's
CONTOUR utility. Thank you Dan! The grass was painted in, and the shrubs were
added using Degas Elite. Yes, you did recognize some of those shrubs from the
Degas Block files. I am particulary proud of the tree on the right in scene
two which I created in Cyber Paint. The club, ball, and tree where created
in CAD 3D and the motion was programmed in Cyber Control. Here I loaded in the
background and anti-aliased as I shot it with Tom Hudson's anti-aliaser. I had
to re-map these objects onto an nonanti-aliased background afterwards. I had to
play some tricks with the zoom to get the ball to appear to fly at you in the
initial sequence. Here I was limited by the size of the CAD 3D universe.
Most of the rest of the animation was done in Cyber Paint. In the last scene
the flight of the ball was generated and the the shadow was painted in. This
was all laid onto an animation of the waving flag (and the waving shadow).
Finally the frog, and frog shadow was animated on top of everything and the
scrolling credits were added. The cloud was a last minute addition which I'm
not sure if I like.
All this for a 200+ frame animation that it takes you about 10 seconds to
see. Evidently the new version of Cyber Paint will allow you to change palletes
on every frame. This should be a big help and I'm slowly mastering CyberMate.
This sequence really needs sound. I've not yet aquired a copy of G.I.S.T so
you'll have to make your own sound effects for now. Enjoy!
