			WPlayBin 1.0

			By RetroWare

Description:

WPlayBin allows you to load 2k, 4k, and Supercharger ROM
images into a Supercharger plugged into an Atari 2600. WPlayBin
is the logical extension of the DOS based program Makewav.

Features:

This is version 1.0, and it doesn't have a whole lot of
features! BUT, it does let you associate a file type with it
through Windows Explorer. This allows you to simply double-click
on an Atari ROM image and have it load into the Supercharger.
Alternatively, you can execute WPlayBin and have a dialog box
with various options appear on the screen.

Bob's 12 step program for Associating a filetype with WPlayBin:

To associate a filetype with WPlayBin:
    1) Copy WPlayBin to a directory on your hard-drive and make
a note of where you put it.
    2) Start Windows Explorer.
    3) Check to see if a file type is associated with files
having the ".bin" extension. If there is, the column
labeled "Type" in the Windows Explorer's right-hand window
will have a description other than "BIN File".
If the file type of a .bin file displays as "BIN File",
       skip to step 8.
    4) On the Tool Menu, choose "View/Options...".
    5) There will be two tabs on the top of the Options window that
appears and choose the one labeled "File Types".
    6) Find the file type displayed for .bin files in the
"Registered File Types" window, select it, and press the
"Remove" button. When the box appears and asks if you are
sure you want to remove the file type, choose YES.
    7) Close the Options window.
    8) Using explorer, find an Atari 2600 ROM image (2k, 4k, or
a Supercharger image) and double click it.
    9) You should get a window labeled "Open With", if not go
back through these intructions from the beginning.
   10) In the box labeled "Description of BIN files", enter an
appropriate description such as "Atari ROM Image".
   11) Click the "Other" button in the lower right hand corner
       of the window.
   12) Find and select WPlayBin.exe using the File Open box that
appears. You should hear the audio of the bin as it is
       played through your speakers!

Hooking your Supercharger to your soundcard:

This is very simple, there are 2 ways to do this:

1) Get a male 1/8" stereo-mini to female 1/8" mono adaptor at
radio-shack. Plug the adaptor into the "Speaker Out" jack of
your soundcard and the Supercharger into the adaptor. The
disadvantages of this method are that, depending on your
soundcard, there may not be enough volume for the Supercharger
and you have to constantly get behind your computer to plug
   and unplug the speakers.

2) Speakers usually have amplifiers in them, and as such only one
speaker actually has the amplifier. Determine which speaker has
the amplifier on your system, and then unplug the second speaker
from the amplified one. Plug the Supercharger into the amplified
speaker. You may have to buy an adaptor to do this too. The
advantage of this system is that you almost surely have enough
volume to load the games into the Supercharger!

Running all 2k and 4k games:

Due to the fact that the Supercharger has 6k of RAM, some
2k and 4k games are not fully compatible with it. There is a way
to fix this though, without destroying your Supercharger. You can
find a detailed description of this fix on my webpage at:

           http://www.novia.net/~rcolbert/super.htm#scmod

Features to be added in the future:

I will add registry entries so you can define your
preferences for playing the ROM images. I will also add more
options to the dialog box that are similar in function to the
flags in Makewav.

Bugs:

If you click the Open button on the dialog box, get the
file-open window, and then don't choose a file (either by closing
the window or hitting the cancel button), the program will crash.
Hey, I'm just learning this Windows stuff :) This will be fixed
shortly.
