           **** DegaSTE ****

DegaSTE is an accessory which allows
u to use DegasElite (painter) on Atari
STE. Degas allows loading the STE pale
te, but u can't edit or create proper
STE ( 4bits per basic color ) paletes.
With DegaSTE u can now create or edit
palete on STE machines. DegaSTE is not
designed purely for Degas. When u stop
editing palete, memory is checked and
if / when pallete buffer is found, new
palete is copied there. So, with some
luck, DegSTE could work with other gfx
programs.

Because of this feature, default value
for seeking paletes (how many buffers
will be found and replaced ) for Degas
is 3, but u can set this parameter to
diferent value, between 1 and 8. It
takes aprox 4s to put new palete using
this method.

There are some drawbacks using this
method: u need to load picture (it can
be empty) or palete change is not done
properly. ATM i don't really h ave an
answer for that, but i could seek for
real address of Degas's palete buffers
and put new palete there. But it would
bind the ACC to Degas only.. Other odd
problem is, that mouse sometimes stays
"active" when u press Quit. Solution
is that u move mouse slightly before u
depress mouse button, when clicking on
"Quit". I have absolutelly no idea why
this is happening!

I still hope u will enjoy this small
utillity!

P.S: Don' run it on non STE machines!!
